Before the lead comes off the hook.
A thoughtful walking plan includes equipment, weather and the moments between the door and the footpath.
01
Prepare the handover
Check that the agreed harness or collar fits and that the lead and clips are in usable condition. Identification and registration requirements should be kept current by the owner. Let us know about changes in medication, recent illness or a new sensitivity before a walk is arranged.
Collection instructions should explain doors, gates and the safe place for the dog while access is handled. Share keys, codes and emergency details only through the agreed private channel. Do not include household access information in a general contact message.
02
Let conditions shape the outing
A familiar route may need to change on a hot or smoky day. Pavement temperature, shade, water access and the dog’s condition matter alongside the weather forecast. We discuss a contingency in advance rather than treating a booked duration as a reason to continue in unsuitable conditions.
Keep your veterinary contact and the nominated emergency decision-maker available. If your dog has a medical restriction, provide the relevant walking guidance from your vet. An ordinary walking service does not assess or diagnose a health condition.
